One of the worst airports a traveler can visit! #Worst. It is the hub of Turkish Airlines and it is a home of millions of travelers everyday. Yet as a foreign traveler it's like a death trap. There is NO INTERNET access at the whole entire airport unless you can provide a "Local" phone number (a Turkish phone number) for authentication process. You can not get a luggage cart unless you have a 1 Turkish Lira coin. If you don't have the coin, you can exchange your $1 for 1 Turkish Lira at the degisnated help desk. Today the exchange rate for 1 dollar for 1 Turkish Lira was 1 to 5 yet you will not get any change. As you exit the airport you are surrounded by agressive "Taxi Drivers" and other scum who are operated under the watchful eyes of the Turkish police. It's old, dirty, nasty place. Avoid if you can.

Beyond frustrated and disappointed, just sad and tired.
Made me not want to come back to Turkey, ever.
No seats around the check-in counters (people just sit on the floor or go to overpriced cafes), too many overcrowded and out-of-order facilities, no official info about the access, facilities and etc. (The website has been shutdown for some reason), slow unreliable wifi (only free for two hours).
And to top it all off, nobody speaks English and restaurant cashiers let locals skip the line so you wait a very, very long time.
I have an understanding for bad facilities, but this? No no no.
Being a frequent traveller, I've been to a lot of bad airports in my time, but this was just the worst experience ever.
I will not be back.

Beauty combination of all the goddess in Turkey, what a beautiful airport!!! Be sure to check the weather before traveling due to the cold, flight gates to the main airport is a very long walk/run sometimes and please wear something comfortable and make sure hand luggage doesn't disturb you on your way. If your number is not on roaming or you don't have a Turkish SIM card don't waste your time trying to connect to the free WiFi you will see around the airport. Look for Caffe Nero and grab something quick to eat or drink and they will connect you to their WiFi or try to located Starbucks in Cafes and Restaurant floor then scan your boarding pass at the machine by Starbucks counter just follow the instructions or ask for help then you will have about 2 hours free WiFi connection. Be very conscious of the flights schedules as the gates and flight time can change anytime. The food court has different food joints and they accept various powerful currencies. Don't be fooled by the big food photos and flyers it's always smaller and I was disappointed with my burger size from Burger King but it was insanely delicious. Check out the airport map from my photos if you need help, sorry for the bad quality.

High prices, "free" wifi is ridiculously over-complicated, very crowded at times with a lack of sitting areas, restrooms are majority nasty, and used by some traveling morons as smoking rooms. Departure gates are posted at 2 hours prior to the flight, so many many transit pax are standing around or wandering aimlessly. Once a gate is posted and you know your way around, then it's not too confusing to find the gates. I suppose with the new airport opening in 2018, maintenance of the current one is minimized to barely acceptable standards. One positive, the little shopping carts, which are massively helpful with unburdening the weight of your carry-on bag(s). If you can't find a cart in the main departure area just after customs, peruse the gate areas, there are usually several left behind by boarding passengers, as well, have some anti-bacterial wipes for the handles. :-)
I hope the new Istanbul airport, scheduled to open this year (2018) will be a vast improvement for passengers.

One of the best Airports i ever been, yet you need to make it earlier to catch you flight, make sure you give an hour easily to the crazy traffic outside, the have Fast Track Access for the Business and First class Travelers and the have many lounges, unfortunately this review comes a month before this Airport close down in 7 April 2019

Very crowded airport 24/7, thanks to Turkish airline I think they have the most connections flights to other cities in the world. The ambiance nice, will have the feeling of a commercial center than an aeroport. But they don’t ha e free wifi! (Or at least I dont know how to connect to their “free wifi” of Turk telecom there). Very nice souvenir stores and duty free stores. They also have electric socket in all gates.

Dünyanın en güzel havalimanlarından biri. Mükemmel e yakın bir dizayn var. Herşey dört dörtlük. Güvenlik, işletme, idari birimler, personeller... sadece pasaport kontrol noktasında bulunan bazı polis memurları malesef çok kaba ve kötü konuşuyorlar. Yabancılara karşı malesef ilgisizler. Çoğu da ingilizce bilmiyor. Özellikle bir polis memuru var adı: Zekeriya Tekçe . Çok kaba, bayanlara kötü davranan , cinsiyetçi , ingilizceden anlamayan, insan ilişkileri çok kötü bir memur. Umarım bu polisin yetkili amirleri gereğini yapar. Onun dışında tüm herşey iyi bu havalimanında. Temizlik personelleri çok kibar ve yardımcı. Hijyen olarak Dünyanın en iyi havalimanlarından diyebilirim.

Huge airport and it is very crowded. If you dont know Turkish, better to go to information counter to get help rather than spending time to look for the sighnboards. Some time your airline number will not show up in the TV screen. It happend to me and I just catch my flight 5 minutes ahead after a long run.
I think Turkish Air is one of the best in the world and theur service is better than any.
There are plenty of self service machines to take boarding pass, that will help to speed up the boarding..
Food is very delicius and i took twice then gave me without any offence.

Although this airport is too much crowded, the primeclass service they offer at airport is very facilitating.
The airport is old, depreciated. The Duty Free is rich and I loved the Old Bazar section where you can buy traditional turkish items.
Restaurants are various.
Be aware to manage your time and know where is your gate because sometimes it needs more than 15 min walking to reach to it.

Аэропорт удобен тем, что до него можно доехать на метро из любой точки Стамбула. Проезд стоит 5 лир. На входе в аэропорт можно постоять в большой очереди на проверку чемоданов. Везде есть таблички на английском. Иногда при погрузке в самолет тут вываливается багаж ))))

Istanbul Ataturk Airport is one of the largest airport by daily passengers number as it hosts around 65 million passengers per day.
Normally, I do not like crowded places but I really liked this airport since the first visit.
I've heard that it will close down as soon as the third airport open...
I don't know the exact location of the new airport, but this one has good location and access better than Sabiha Gokcen airport.
I hope they keep this airport :D

И очень мало информационных указателей на английском. Поразило конечно и количество самолетов - их там кажется тьма и на посадку и на взлет.

Die Zigaretten sind günstig, Nachts ist nicht viel los und manches wirkt hier sehr kaotisch beziehungsweise sind manche Handlungsabläufe auch sehr kaotisch. Gateänderungen mehrmals, überfüllte Flugsteige und Angestellte die zwar nett sind aber auch keinen großen Plan haben.

How much I like that much I hate this airport, always crowded. Be sure that you have enough time between flights, specially if you have to switch from domestic to international gates. On the other hand bog airport with plenty of duty free shops, restaurants. Public restrooms are not the best one but what to expect in this busy airport

At this airport you have reastaurants an coffee shops. Starbucks and Nero and other local ones very reasonably priced.
Water bottle 1 Euro, coffee 2 euros, turkish byrek 3 euros etc...so if you have waiting time you can enjoy free samples of llokum (Turkish delight,) for free displayed in many corners..
Why 3 stars..well to crowded, the toilets not very clean and lack of seating areas..For so many people you must make space, it's not a shopping mall after all...

심지어 그 게이트로 출발하려던 비행기에 착석했던 승객들이 모두 짐을 들고 내리고 나서 우리 비행기가 그 게이트로 출발할 수 있었는데, 그때 내린 승객들은 무슨 생각이었을까?
컴플레인도 아니고 그냥 물어봤을 뿐인데 공항 직원들 서비스 마인드 자체가 "나야 모르지 ^^ 어쩌라고!? ^^" 이런 느낌이라 상당히 안좋게 남아있음
그 외 라운지 시설이나 면세점 등은 깔끔하고 좋은 편이었다. 하지만 탑승할때까지, 그리고 탑승하고도 게이트 바뀌었다고 내리라고 할까봐 긴장의 끈을 놓을 수 없었음.
ㅌㅋ항공이 악명 높은 이유는 오버부킹 외에도 이런 불친절한 서비스 때문이 아닐까 싶다 그래도 무사히 다녀왔음이 다행이라면 다행인 부분
